3 Tips For Losing Stubborn Belly Fat

Losing weight is never easy. However, for many people, it’s losing belly fat that can be most challenging. And while you can get a slimmer waist through things like surgery or major dieting and exercise, there are some simpler and more basic things that can help as well.

To show you what these things are, here are three tips for losing stubborn belly fat.

Manage Your Stress

Your lifestyle can have a big impact on your weight and the amount of belly fat that your body hangs onto. So if you’ve been dieting and doing cardio but still have some excess weight around your middle, you might need to look at other areas of your life to see if they could be contributing to your problems.

One thing that can make a big difference is the amount of stress in your life.

According to Franziska Spritzler, a contributor to Healthline.com, having a lot of stress in your life can result in your body producing more cortisol, which is a hormone that can make your body have higher fat storage around your waist. In addition to this, cortisol can also make you feel hungry, which will have you eating more and adding even more mass to your belly.

To combat this, try to find healthy ways to manage your stress. This could include things like meditation, yoga, and other activities that allow you to relax and unwind. A common addition to decreasing the stress in your life, is to switch to a low cholesterol diet plan. High cholesterol can increase your blood pressure, which in addition to stress can really affect you negatively.

Start Lifting Weights

While many people rely on diet and cardio to get trim, if you’re neglecting strength training, you’re not allowing your body to lose as much weight around your middle as it likely otherwise could.

Brielle Gregory, a contributor to Prevention.com, shares that when you build muscle in your body through strength training, you will eventually be replacing the fat around your belly with muscle. Additionally, the more muscle mass you have, the more calories your body will automatically burn at rest, which will help you keep that weight off even when you’re not actively trying to anymore.

Get More Sleep

Just like how stress can make your body hold onto your fat stores, not getting enough sleep can do the exact same thing. According to Mallory Creveling, a contributor to Women’s Health Magazine, not getting enough sleep can wreak havoc on your metabolism, even if it’s just one night of rough sleep. So if you’ve been getting seven hours or less of sleep each night, it’s time to make some lifestyle adjustments so you can get close to eight or nine.

If you have excess weight around your belly that’s causing your waist to be larger than you would like, consider using the tips mentioned above to help you learn how you can make some lifestyle changes to address this health issue.
